What we stand for

Sydney Muay Thai Academy exists to teach one art properly and to make sure the people learning it are looked after. This page is the whole of it: our purpose, our mission, and the six values the academy is run on.

Purpose/Mission/Core values
Why we exist

To give every person who walks through our doors a place to belong, and a practice that makes them stronger for the rest of their life.

Sydney is a fast, crowded, lonely city to be new in. We built this academy as the opposite of that: a room where the door is open, the standard is real, and someone always knows your name. Muay Thai is the art we teach. Belonging is what we are actually building.

What we do about it

We teach authentic Muay Thai, carried from Thailand through the Grand Master Toddy lineage, in a room where a first-timer and a fighter train side by side.

We coach the whole person — body, mind and character — hold the art to the standard Thailand gave it, and make sure no one trains alone.

Teach it truly

Eight limbs, taught the way the lineage teaches them: technique before power, fundamentals before flair, respect before everything.

Coach the person

Every student gets a coach, a path and a next step — from the first class through grading, and on to whatever they want to become.

Keep the room open

Women, kids, teenagers, adults, fighters and total beginners. If you are willing to show up, there is a place on the mat for you.

Core values

How we behave

Six values, and what each one actually looks like on the mat. They are how we coach, how we run the gym and how we expect everyone in the room to treat each other.

01

Respect

Kreng Jai

Respect for the art, for the Kru who taught it, and for the training partner standing across from you. The wai is not decoration — it is how we treat each other.

02

Discipline

Khwam Mee Winai

We show up. On the good weeks and the tired ones. Consistency is the technique that makes every other technique work.

03

Heritage

Moradok

Eight limbs, one bloodline. We pass on Muay Thai as Thailand gave it to us, not a watered-down version of it.

04

Family

Khrop Khrua

Nobody trains alone. You will be corrected, encouraged and held to account by people who want you here next week.

05

Courage

Khwam Kla Ha

Step forward. The first hard round, the first grading, the first spar — growth always lives on the other side of a nerve.

06

Care

Khwam Hai

Look after people. We warm up properly, watch the beginners, train safely and never let a student feel like a number.

In one line

Eight limbs. One bloodline. Electric tradition.
